Samuel Rhodes

Samuel Rhodes is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Goings Social and serves as Chairman of its Board of Directors.

Samuel founded Goings Social after watching the people around him get consumed by social media: more time spent scrolling through other people’s lives, and less time living their own. He set out to build the opposite, an app that gets people off the feed and out to what’s happening around them. He was the company’s first member, and that idea remains at the heart of Goings: other social apps show you what people are doing, and Goings helps you go do it with them.

As CEO, Samuel leads Goings Social’s strategy and oversees the development of Goings, the company’s app for finding what’s happening nearby, showing up, and sharing it with the people who are actually there. He guides the company’s work across product, engineering and operations, with a focus on building a social app around real places, real events and the people who attend them. Under his leadership, Goings has been built with privacy at its core: exact locations are never shown to anyone, the app carries no ads, and personal information is never sold.

Samuel has been programming for nine years and works across more than ten programming languages. He holds more than 15 certifications in computer science and programming, and brings that technical depth to the decisions behind Goings, from how the app works to how it protects the people who use it.

Samuel has more than four years of experience leading companies, including LearnCodeNow. Outside of Goings, he plays in band and contributes to open-source projects.
